The complete program, 36 credits, consists of six required foundation courses, three elective courses and a research capstone project. Campuses where program is offered:
Dobbs Ferry, and entirely online.
"The interviewers absolutely loved the Master's in Direct Marketing - almost intimidated by it. It's also good because they know that even though I am in circulation marketing (very niche as you know) the education is giving me a well rounded appeal - they know everything can be transferred from one medium to another. It is a huge competitive advantage even just being enrolled and not completely done yet. I have to tell you though - everyone loves the Master's in Direct Marketing - they do ask how people can work full time and get the degree. It really does set you apart for several reasons. The advanced degree, and the fact that they know where your career goals are. Being enrolled in the program as well as coming from a power house where I work now has landed me a lot of big company names."

Frequently Asked Questions:
When are students admitted to the program?
The 18-month degree program begins at all locations (Dobbs Ferry, Manhattan and online) in the fall of each year. An online-only cohort also starts each spring, allowing students the opportunity to choose the study cycle that fits their professional and personal schedules. Potential candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible - classroom and online cohorts fill quickly.
Is there a difference between the classroom experience and the online experience at Mercy College?
The content offered in the classroom is identical to that offered online, and is based on an approved and established curriculum. The classroom experience affords students a face-to-face interaction with instructors and classmates, whereas online instruction affords students the ability to electronically interact based on their own schedules throughout the term. Feedback from current students and successful graduates indicates classroom instruction is perfect for those in the New York area who prefer in-person interaction and weekly class attendance. Other students and graduates find online distance learning more flexible, and easier to accommodate work and personal schedules. Program instructors are experienced in both classroom and online instruction.
What pre-requisites are there for the program?
GMAT scores are NOT required, which is a standardized test whose results have little bearing on a candidate's success in the program. You must have a four year undergraduate degree from an accredited college with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
How quickly can I complete the program?
This 36 credit Master of Science degree program is designed to be completed in 18 months. This is accomplished by taking two six credit courses per each ten week quarter.
Do you offer night weekend and/or online classes?
All in-class courses at the Dobbs Ferry campus are held in the evenings. Also, the entire program is offered completely online, with no residency requirement. There are no weekend courses offered or expected to be offered.
How often do industry professionals or speakers conduct in-class discussions?
Most courses have guest speakers as part of their curriculum or visits to off-site facilities, e.g. direct marketing ad agencies, printing/letter shop/fulfillment houses, or related trade shows when possible.

"After six years as a marketing manager and another two on the agency side, I enrolled in Mercy Colleges M.S. in Direct Marketing program. In the three years since I began my studies, I completed my degree, earned two promotions and received invitations to speak at industry conferences and contribute to leading marketing publications. Today, I'm a creative director at one of the country's most honored b-to-b agencies. Every day, I leverage what I learned at Mercy College to help me create breakthrough campaigns for my clients. In a business that values return-on-investment above all, I can't imagine a better use of a marketers time and dollars than the graduate education I received at Mercy College."

"I can't say enough positive things about Mercy's direct marketing program. Since I've started this program, I've been offered a position at one of the top full service, direct marketing agencies in the U.S. I'm convinced that my involvement with the program gave me an edge over the other candidates and ultimately had an enormous impact on the company's hiring decision. The direct marketing courses in the program couldn't be more directly related to what I do. There is not a single day I don't apply what I've learned in my classes."
