Frequently Asked Questions:
How long does it take to complete AAS degree in IT?
If the student completes 15 credits (five courses) per semester, it requires four semesters. Most of these courses are offered both on campus (Dobbs Ferry or Bronx) and also online. Some of the courses are offered in the evenings, weekends, and during the summer sessions.
How is Mercy's program unique?
The Information Technology Program at Mercy College offers hands-on experience with most of the popular software applications, PC hardware, and networking. Motivated students can prepare for the A+ and Network+ certifications with the help of the professors. The classes are small. Professors are easily available for consultation, advisement, and academic help. Students who are limited in their ability to take our on-campus classes can take the online courses and complete them without attending on-campus classes. Our learning centers are staffed with highly qualified tutors who believe in helping students.
What type of student is well suited for the program?
This program is a stepping stone for students who are currently working in the field but do not have a college degree to further their career goals. Also, students who have a college degree but want to change careers will be well served by starting at this level.
Can I attend the program part-time?
Yes. You can take as little as one course per semester. The program is designed to be flexible enough to accommodate working adults and many students attend part-time. Day, night, weekend, and online classes are available. Even if you work full-time, it is possible to complete the program within a reasonable period of time.
