    Instructions for Submitting the Non-Degree Seeking Special Student Application
    (Non-Matriculant Status)

    General Information:
    Non-Matriculant students, (non-degree seeking students), who wish to register for undergraduate or graduate courses at Mercy College must complete a special application for admission. Non-matriculant students fall into five categories:

    1. Undergraduate
    2. Graduate, (policy for the admission of non-matriculant students varies by program)
    3. Graduate pursuing N.Y.State Certification in Education, Counseling or School Administration
    4. High school student
    5. Senior citizen (age 62 and above) applying for special tuition rate.

    Undergraduate non-matriculant students may take up to 24 credits. Graduate non-matriculant students who have program director's approval may take up to 18 credits.

    Tuition:

    • Undergraduate tuition for part-time (1-11 credits) is $520 per credit.
    • Undergraduate tuition for full-time (12-18 credits) is $6,185 per semester.
    • Reduced tuition rate of $100 per credit is available for high school students and senior citizens who register on the first day of class if seats are available. This does not include books or additional fees that may be charged based on course (i.e., lab fees, etc.)
    • Graduate tuition is $595 per credit
    • Graduate Banking/Securities is $690 per credit
    • Graduate Health Science Programs is $630 per credit
    • For both undergraduate and graduate students there is a registration fee of $200 per semester, if taking 12 credits or more, and $100 per semester, if taking less than 12 credits.

    Financial Aid:

    Generally, there is no financial aid available for Non-Matriculant Students. However, Graduate non-matriculant students who are pursuing N.Y.S. certification in Education, Counseling, or School Administration are eligible for financial aid.     International Students:

    Non-Residents cannot receive the I-20 through Non-Matriculant Student Status.

    Immunization Requirement:

    Since 1990, students attending colleges and universities in New York State have been required to show proof of immunity against measles, mumps and rubella. This law applies to all students born after December 31, 1956 and who enroll for six or more credits. Failure to show proof of compliance with this regulation will prohibit students from attending classes.     Matriculation Information:

    A non-degree seeking student who subsequently decides to apply for admission to Mercy College as an undergraduate or graduate matriculated student must file an application, submit official transcripts, take all required tests, and complete an interview with an Admissions Counselor. An admissions decision will be made and the student will receive notification of application status by mail.

    Instructions for Undergraduate Non-Matriculant Students

    It is advised that you review the course description(s) to determine if pre-requisites are necessary.

    If your course requires pre-requisites, or if you would like to meet with an Admissions Counselor before completing the Non-Matriculant Application, you may download the application and bring a hard copy with you when you meet with the counselor. Call 1-877-MERCY GO to make an appointment with an admissions counselor.

    If there are no pre-requisites you may select the On-Line Non-Matriculant Application.


    Instructions for Graduate Non-Matriculant Students Pursuing Certification in Education, Counseling or School Administration

    Initial registration to any graduate program, must be authorized by the Program Director or Designee. Non-matriculant status may be granted for up to 18 credits in specific programs to satisfy certification requirements. All courses must be pertinent to the area of certification determined by the program advisor. Please call 1-877-MERCY GO to schedule an appointment with a Graduate Admissions Counselor.     Instructions for Graduate Non-Matriculant Students

    Initial registration to any graduate program, must be authorized by the Program Director or Designee. Non-matriculant status may be granted for up to 18 credits. Note: The policy to allow registration of non-matriculant students varies by program. Please call 1-877-MERCY GO to schedule an appointment with a Graduate Admissions Counselor. Applicants may download a PDF format of the Graduate Non-Matriculant Application to bring to the interview.

    On-line application for graduate non-matriculant students is not available at this time.


    Instructions for High School Non-Matriculant Students

    High School Students who have the written permission of their principal or guidance counselor may register as non-matriculant students. In order to receive the reduced tuition rate of $100.00 per credit, students must apply on the first day of class and will be admitted if seats are available. High School Students are responsible for any other course fees (lab fee, etc.) at the time of registration. Students should arrange to meet with an Admission Counselor prior to registration.     High School Students who are not seeking the special tuition rate may apply at any time. Regular rate students should still make an appointment to see an Admissions Counselor. You may download the PDF application and bring it with you to your interview.


    Instructions for Senior Citizen (age 62 and above) Non-Matriculant Students

    Senior citizens (age 62 or above) may register for courses at a reduced rate of $100.00 per credit on the first day of class if seats are available. Students should arrange to meet with an Admissions Counselor prior to registration. Call 1-877-MERCY GO to set up an appointment.     Senior citizens who are not seeking the special tuition rate may apply at any time. You should still make an appointment to see an Admissions Counselor. You may download the PDF application and bring it with you to your interview.


    Online Learning Students
