VITAE
Degrees
Dr. Biscoglio
is a graduate of the College of New Rochelle, where she received the
first Catherine Haage award for Excellence in Teaching. She completed
her M. A. and Ph.D. degrees in English Literature from Fordham University,
with a specialization in Medieval Literature.
Courses
Taught:
During
her more than twenty years at Mercy College, Dr. Biscoglio has taught
all levels of composition from ENGL 006 through ENGL 112. In addition,
she has taught ENGL 191 and ENGL192 English Honors, ENGL 206 Survey
II, ENGL 200 Poetics,
ENGL 295 The
Cantebury Tales,
and ENGL 402 Applied
English Grammar.
Professional
Organizations:
She is a member of the Modern Language Association, the Medieval
Club of New York, the Christianity and Literature Association, the National
Council of Teachers of English, and the Association of Literary Scholars
and Critics.
Professional/
Research Interest:
Her research interests are focused on Middle English and Renaissance
literature and theology, with particular emphasis on the portrayal of
women in medieval literature. She has presented papers annually at the
Patristics, Medieval, and Renaissance Conference in Villanova, Pa.,
as well as at Christianity and Literature Conferences in the Northwestern,
Southeastern, and Western regions.
Professional
Practice/ Special Interest:
Dr. Biscoglio's interest in developing the writing and comprehension
skills of students entering ENGL 006, Introduction to Academic Skills,
has led her to create a new curriculum for this course that integrates
reading, writing, and literature. She has received a sabbatical for
the Spring '04 semester to edit a new prose reader to be used in ENGL
006.
