The following is an effort of Mercy College Librarians to provide access to publicly available (no copyright restrictions) full text versions of books freely available via the internet. In addition to these free resources, Mercy Libraries also has a few subscription e-books in its collection. To find these, see the Books and Media Catalog, and limit your search to e-books.
Types of materials you will find on the links provided include:
  • Classics - from Abbott to Shakespeare
  • General and subject specific - from agriculture to philosophy
  • English and foreign language titles
  • Types of materials you will NOT find include:
  • Textbooks
  • Any book still under copyright - ex. Harry Potter

    The Online Books Page hosted by the University of Pennsylvania library. This website facilitates access to free books over the Internet. Its listings include more than 25,000 e-books, especially in the area of humanities. Links to free serials, e-text collections in foreign languages, and much more.

    An online catalogue from Project Gutenberg, the first producer of electronic free books. Access to over 20, 000 books, mostly in the area of humanities, readable on line, or downloadable.
