A Little about Subject Directories....

  • Subject Directories are also called subject guides
  • They are a compilation of Internet resources organized by subject
  • Good subject guides are selected, indexed, categorized, and annotated by people
  • A great number of the people who compile subject directories are librarians, which result in optimum organization and maximum results

A subject directory can be useful when you:

  •  have a broad topic or idea to research
  •  want a list of sites on your topic recommended and annotated by experts
  •  wish to retrieve a list of sites relevant to your topic, rather than numerous individual pages  contained within those sites
  •  would like to search for the site title, annotation, and assigned keywords
  •  want to avoid retrieving low-content documents
