A Little about Subject Directories....
- Subject
Directories are also
called subject guides
- They are a compilation of Internet resources organized by subject
- Good subject guides are selected, indexed, categorized, and annotated by people
- A great number of the people who compile subject directories are librarians, which result in optimum organization and maximum results
A
subject directory can be useful when you:
- have
a broad topic or idea to research
- want
a list of sites on your topic recommended and annotated by experts
- wish
to retrieve a list of sites relevant to your topic, rather than numerous individual pages contained within those sites
- would
like to search for the site title, annotation, and assigned keywords
- want
to avoid retrieving low-content documents
