The men's basketball team has begun to show a great deal of improvement and expects to continue that trend in the years to come. The coaching staff is dedicated to raising this team to new and higher levels, starting with young talent that has already been recruited, and prospects who will be added over the next few years.

Mercy faces top level opponents from across the region, starting with their formidable foes from the NYCAC, whose champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament. In addition, several conference teams have also received at-large bids in recent seasons, as well as ECAC Tournament slots, providing a prime post-season incentive to the league's top schools.
