For nearly a decade the Lady Flyers have been a fixture among the top teams in the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference as well as the Northeast Region. Last season Mercy rebounded from a brief dry spell to place fifth in the regional rankings and earn their fourth trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament in the past six years.

The program has been a powerhouse in recent years with accomplishments including four straight trips to the NYCAC finals, conference championships in 1999, 2000 and 2001, and trips to the NCAA Tourney in each of those three years. That run was highlighted by the Lady Flyers' Northeast Regional championship in 2001 and their trip to the NCAA Elite Eight. In their quarterfinal appearance against host Grand Valley State University, Mercy suffered a tough five-set loss, becoming the first team from the region to ever capture even one game on that national stage. They finished the 2001 campaign with a 34-2 record and ranked #19 in the nation.

As the Lady Flyers make their way back into the regional picture under the guidance of Mercy alum Jen Addison, they will do so in different surroundings. After establishing one of the longest home-court win streaks in history - 41 straight matches - at the friendly confines of Mercy Gym, the team will take their act to nearby Dobbs Ferry High School this season.
