What should I wear to the graduation ceremony?

All students must wear academic regalia (cap and gown) ordered from the Mercy College Bookstore to participate in the ceremony. To order the correct hood for your degree, please check your degree audit on Mercy Connect before purchasing your Commencement attire. You may check with your individual department regarding ordering additional ornamentation representing honorary societies. Due to the formality of the occasion and for safety issues walking on the steps and stage, please wear appropriate footwear; high heels, flip-flops, clogs, and loose-fitting shoes are not recommended. In addition, it is requested that men wear slacks and a dress shirt with a tie. For women, slacks with a blouse or a dress are appropriate. Nothing should be carried into the auditorium so please leave purses, gifts and other belongings with your guests.

Where can I purchase my cap and gown?

Graduation regalia can be purchased beginning April 8 at either the Dobbs Ferry or Bronx bookstore. Pre-ordering, sizing and fitting are not necessary. If you are unable to visit the bookstore, please call the Dobbs Ferry Bookstore (914) 674-3603; or the Bronx Bookstore (718) 863-9316, should you have any questions.

What if I have an outstanding balance with the College; Will I be able to participate?

Please be advised that failure to resolve current and prior balances owed to the College will result in the ineligibility to participate in graduation activities, the release of final transcripts and/or release of a College diploma. Please visit the Office of Student Services at any of our five campus locations or call the Student Services Support Center at 1-888-464-6737.

What time should I arrive?

You should plan to arrive at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, 90 minutes prior to the ceremony. Traffic is busy so allow for sufficient time to find parking and arrival within the center.

Where should we park?

The parking lot at the Westchester County Center is first come-first served and costs $15 per car. Do not park at nearby stores; doing so may result in a ticket or a "boot" being placed on your tire. Traffic in White Plains is very busy; please consider this with respect to your arrival time.
