Baccalaureate Awards

Alumni/Faculty Accounting Scholarship

One annual award will be presented to a graduating senior who will be entering the MS in Public Accounting Program at Mercy College. The candidates must have demonstrate academic excellence, exhibit leadership within the community, and be an active accounting program student participant. 


Advertising Club of Westchester Scholarship Award

Annual scholarship award for a Mercy College student who is pursuing a career in Advertising, Marketing, Digital Media or Graphic Arts and who has shown outstanding work in their College years. If no Advertising, Marketing, Digital Media or Graphic Arts student is available in a given year, then any undergraduate within Department of Communication and The Arts will be eligible.


Barbara Ross Sullivan Memorial Fund

One annual award of $500 will be given to a graduating senior who will pursue a graduate degree in English Literature at Mercy College. Preference will be given to applicants who will focus their studies on medieval literature and/or who are graduating from the Bronx campus.


Bernard Castro Scholarship Award

Annual award for a Mercy College student who has completed an undergraduate degree in Marketing and who has shown outstanding work in their college years. If no Marketing Major is available in a given year then any undergraduate within the School of Business will be eligible. The student awardee must display a determination to continue their studies at a graduate level at Mercy College within the School of Business.


Dot Adams Memorial Fund

Annual award for a journalism student at Mercy College who has demonstrated integrity and scholarly inquiry during their training for a career in journalism.


James Elting Memorial Award in Accounting

The purpose of the Elting Memorial Award in Accounting is to honor the memory of Professor James M. Elting by recognizing, at the College's annual Baccalaureate Ceremony, a graduating student who has majored in Accounting and who exemplifies the characteristics valued by Professor Elting: academic achievement, proficiency in taxation, personal growth and service to the College community.


Theresa Kane Agent of Change Award

An award up to $500 annually will be bestowed on a student who has completed any undergraduate degree within the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences and has shown outstanding work. The recipient must continue his/her graduate studies at Mercy.


Journalism Scholarship Fund

Scholarship award for a graduating student in the Journalism Program who has demonstrated academic excellence. The award is given out at the Quill Awards.


Kellogg Memorial Fund

The Howard Kellogg award for excellence in computer studies is given to an outstanding student in computers who demonstrates intellectual curiosity and creativity, as well as service to others.


Kammerman Fund

The Oscar Kammerman memorial business award is given to an outstanding evening student in the business program.


Kuchinsky Memorial Award

Recognizes a graduating student who has majored in Accounting and who exemplifies the characteristics valued by Prof. Kuchinsky: academic achievement, conscientiousness, diligence, effort, hard work, professionalism and school spirit.


Mahoney Baccalaureate Award

The Frances T.M. Mahoney Scholarship for graduate studies, endowed by Catherine Mahoney Follis, class of 1974, in honor of her sister and a beloved professor, is presented to a Mercy College graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in his or her undergraduate studies and has been accepted in one of four Mercy College graduate programs in the field of psychology.


McMahon Award

Honoring the spirit and dedication to the arts for which this award is named, the recipient is granted a monetary award and medal to recognize his/her dedication to and active participation in drama, oral interpretation of literature or the arts in general at Mercy College or in the wider community.


Mercy College Memorial Fund

The Mercy College Memorial fund scholarship for graduate study is given each year to an outstanding student worker.


Sr. Mary Cunningham Scholarship

The Sister Mary Cunningham Award in History is established in memory of Sister Cunningham. Sister was a founding member of the History major who taught at the College for over two decades.


Valerie Lewis Memorial Fund for Excellence in Creative Writing

Annual non-cash award for a Mercy College student who has shown outstanding work in the field of creative writing. The award is usually given out at the English Department Honors Ceremony.
