Health Professions Scholarships

College Health Service

Positions are available in the Health Service Office for students in the Graduate Nursing Program. For full tuition reimbursement, students work an equivalent number of weekly hours to the number of weekly hours of instruction. Please see the program director for more information.


Communication Disorders

Scholarships, fellowships and other forms of financial assistance are available for study in speech-language pathology. Interested students should contact ASHA at (800) 638-8255 or (301) 897-5700.


Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP)

College students who are interested in pursuing careers in healthcare can find the extra help they need through HCOP. Funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, HCOP is geared toward providing economically and educationally disadvantaged students with the support they need to enter the health professions. The program provides a summer enrichment program, tutoring, specialized workshops, field trip experiences, assistance with preparing for entrance examinations, guidance through the graduate school application process and information on securing fellowships and other funding for graduate school. 


The J. Mae Pepper Memorial Fund

Two partial scholarships are awarded annually to one undergraduate and one graduate student majoring in nursing. Scholarship selection is based on academic excellence. Established in memory of the former chairperson of the Nursing Department, Dr. Jessie Mae Pepper. Please see the program director for more information.


Occupational Therapy

Scholarships, fellowships and other forms of financial assistance are available for study in Occupational Therapy. Interested students should contact AOTA at (301) 652-2682 or go to www.aota.org.


Physical Therapy

Scholarships, fellowships and other forms of financial assistance are available for study in Physical Therapy. Interested students should contact (800) 999-APTA.


Nursing, Health and other Philanthropic Organizations

Scholarships, fellowships and other forms of financial assistance are available for advanced study in nursing from various nursing, health and other philanthropic organizations. Interested students should contact the Director of the Graduate Program in Nursing for further information.


US Department of Health and Human Services Scholarship for Health Professions (Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Occupational Therapy and Communication Disorders)

Scholarships are available for disadvantaged students through a grant from the United States Department of Health and Human Services.


New York City Board of Education Scholarships for Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy

New York City Board of Education Scholarships Students accepted in to the graduate Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy programs are eligible for scholarships with the New York City Board of Education. These scholarships are renewable for a second year as funding permits. Additionally, the Communication Disorders Program participates in the Expanded Capacity Initiative provided by the New York State Education Department and the New York City Board of Education.
