ECON 125, 210, 220, 221, and 230, MATH 116 and MATH/CIS 131 are prerequisites for the major and must be used to fulfill general education requirements.

Data Analytics is the field of business focused on utilizing quantitative information (data) to make strategic business decisions. This is an important distinction between Data Sciences (Computer Sciences), which focuses on utilizing data to commoditize a process, create a product, etc.
What skills do data analysts need?
Data Analytics is an incredibly multi-faceted role and Data Analysts master a broad scope of skills such as Statistics, Graphic Design, Programming, Psychology, etc. The most common misconception about anything data is that it’s mostly about numbers or math. Data Analytics is also a highly creative field and analysts enjoy plenty of diversity in functions.

How long does earning a degree take?
Full-time students can complete the 120-credit degree program in four years.
How do I know what to major in?
All Business majors must complete a set of core business courses. Students will be exposed to all the business disciplines and with the help of their mentor, students can select the major that suits their interest and skills.

Yes, faculty are always ready to help students with questions about what courses to take, the sequencing of courses, and career opportunities, including internships and cooperative education.

What careers do data analysts have?
Data Analysts are employed throughout the organization for a multitude of specialized purposes (finance, marketing, accounting, HR, operations, supply chain management, etc.). If there is a specific facet of business you’re interested in, data analytics is highly applicable across the organization.

Is Mercy College a nonsectarian institution?
Yes. Qualified applicants are admitted without regard to race, religion, national or ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, marital status, age or physical disability.
How many credits can be transferred from another institution?
Up to 75 credits from a two-year institution. Up to 90 from a four-year institution. Up to 90 credits combined however the credits may not exceed 75 credits from any combination of two-year institutions as they apply to your chosen degree. In addition you may only transfer in two courses of upper-level business credit (six credits) to apply to the major / specialization.
I work full time. I have many responsibilities, family among them. How can I earn a degree?
By taking advantage of Mercy College's "B & C Terms" or enrolling online. B & C Terms are two eight-week terms that run during a semester. Classes are twice a week. Usually Monday - Wednesday and Tuesday -Thursday. (5:50-8:20pm & 8:30-11pm.) You can be a fulltime student by taking two courses in the B term and two courses in the C term.
