Students who choose the major concentration in Legal Studies must complete:

five additional courses in Legal Studies numbered 203 or above or Paralegal Studies Courses numbered 201 or above.
and three courses from the following:
There is an 18-credit residency requirement in the major concentration in Legal Studies.
* Note: No more than 12 credits of Paralegal Studies courses may be taken for the Legal Studies major.

The Legal Studies program is designed for students who are interested in a career in the law. The program gives you the opportunity to learn from legal professionals. Practicing attorneys will help you develop the oral communication, writing and critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in law school. Whether you are interested in pursuing a career in the law, business or government, the student who majors in general Legal Studies will be introduced to the techniques of successful negotiation and mediation and will have the chance to develop these skills in more advanced courses.
Graduates of the Legal Studies program are prepared for Law School, Careers in Politics & Administration, Interest Representation (Lobbying), and Conflict Management.
