Dr. Sheila Offman Gersh

Mercy College Center for Global Engagement


Dr.  Gersh is Director of Mercy's Center for Global Engagement, where her responsibilities include designing and implementing the campus’ international education agenda to help students graduate with international competencies and skills they will need to function effectively in a globalized world.  As the Center's Director, she works to advance globalization of the College’s curricular and co-curricular environment, and directs the College's study abroad program, programs with the United Nations, and other international programs.  In recent years, she also directed the College's Teach Japan project, supported by a grant from the US-Japan Foundation.  Prior to Mercy College, Dr. Gersh was Director of Technology and International Projects for the Center for School Development, School of Education, The City College of New York (CUNY), where she directed a variety of international technology projects, including CultureQuest (  She has presented and keynoted at conferences in the U.S. and around the world (Japan, India, Dominican Republic, Australia, Sweden, Austria, Spain, Finland, Denmark, UK, Israel, Italy, Slovenia) and has published widely on international technology integration projects.  She has a B.B.A from The City College of New York (CUNY), M.S. from Hunter College (CUNY), and doctorate from New York University.
