Hardware
All hardware devices acquired for or on behalf of the College or developed by College employees or contract personnel on behalf of the College is and shall be deemed College property. All such hardware devices must be used in compliance with applicable licenses, notices, contracts, and agreements.
Purchasing
All purchasing of College computer hardware devices shall be centralized with the information technology department to ensure that all equipment conforms to the hardware standards and is purchased at the best possible price
Hardware standards
Current hardware standards are available in the Hardware and Software Standards document. Any deviation from these standards must be approved prior to purchase.
Replacement cycles
All computers are on a four-year replacement cycle, whether leased or purchased. The reasons for this are two-fold: first, the pace of technology change necessitates new equipment at least every two years; second, computers older 3 years require significant maintenance which is costly both in labor and parts.
Outside equipment
No outside equipment may be plugged into the College’s network without the permission of the Computer Services Center.
Administration and Enforcement
Follows the policies and procedures governed by the Employee Handbook, Faculty Handbook, Student Handbook, and the Union Contract.
Appeal of an Administrative Decision
