T he Mercy College Nursing Program lost an esteemed faculty member, well-respected colleague, staunch student advocate and a dear friend on June 20, 2021. Eileen became part of the Mercy College Nursing Program fabric over time. She first served on the Nursing Advisory Board, then as an adjunct. Her expertise as Dean at Westchester Community College and her ability to lead that program to a 100% NCLEX pass rate, led the nursing leadership team to ask her to be the official NCLEX advisor to the undergraduate nursing programs. Eileen spent hours developing course content, analyzing data, making herself available at all hours to students and faculty alike. In 2017, she became an unofficial advisor and mentor to our newly minted Nursing Program leaders Dr. Miriam Ford and Dr. Susan Moscou. We will miss her brilliant mind, her kind manner, her insightful analysis and her wonderful sense of humor. The Dr. Eileen Karlik Scholarship Fund has been established at Mercy College with an inaugural donation from the Sobecki family.
