Mercy College Announces Reema Zeineldin as the New Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs
DOBBS FERRY, NY – Mercy College announced the appointment of Reema Zeineldin, Ph.D., as Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, effective July 1. Dr. Zeineldin is a scholar and academic leader with a distinguished record of accomplishment. In her capacity as associate provost, Dr. Zeineldin will work collaboratively with faculty, deans, and administrators to strengthen the College’s infrastructure for faculty personnel and development, student academic support, and program accreditation, all to advance student success.
Most recently, Dr. Zeineldin was dean of the School of Applied Sciences at Mount Ida College, where she provided leadership, vision, and direction to the School and its academic programs; ensured program compliance; improved student success, retention, and graduation rates; and contributed to School planning, policy, and management.

She will bring valuable knowledge and insight to the College in general and to the Office of the Provost in particular, as we continuously seek to better serve Mercy students and faculty. Prior to her role at Mount Ida, she served as associate professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (Worcester campus), and assistant research professor of Pharmacy at the University of New Mexico. Her teaching has centered on cell biology, cancer biology, nanotechnology, biomedical science, pharmaceutics, and pharmacology. Her career highlights include 2012 Teacher of the Year recognition by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and the 2007 Minority-Serving Institution Faculty Scholar in Cancer Research Award from the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR).
Her research has focused on applying nanotechnology for diagnosis and therapy of diseases and on understanding ovarian cancer progression, as well as the scholarship of teaching and learning, instructional pedagogical approaches, and faculty mentorship. She is editor of a volume on cancer nanotechnology, author of over six book chapters and 18 journal articles, holder of four U.S. patents, and member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and American Association of Cancer Research (AACR).
Dr. Zeineldin earned her Ph.D. in in biomedical sciences from the University of New Mexico, and M.S. in pathology and B.S. in biochemistry from Kuwait University. She was also a two-time postdoctoral fellow at the University of New Mexico, and participant in the HERS Institute (Wellesley College) for leadership training for women in higher education.
