A Message from the Department of Campus Safety

MC seal

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:

The City of New York recently announced a new rule requiring individuals to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 before dining indoors.  This includes “dining establishments in colleges and universities.”  Establishments that do not comply are subject to inspection and fines.

As a result of this mandate, access to the dining areas for students, faculty, and staff at Mercy’s Manhattan and Bronx Campuses will be limited to those able to show proof of vaccination.  These restricted areas will be clearly marked and signage will be posted.  Consumption of food outside of these areas is prohibited except in private spaces.

Acceptable proof of vaccination includes:

  • A photo or hard copy of a CDC vaccination card
  • NYC COVID Safe App
  • New York State Excelsior App
  • Official vaccination record
  • A photo or hard copy of an official vaccination record of a vaccine administered outside the U.S. for one of the following: AstraZeneca/SK Bioscience, Serum Institute of India/COVIDSHIELD and Vaxzevria, Sinopharm, or Sinovac.

Takeout food items not consumed in common spaces do not require proof of vaccination and this mandate does not affect the Dobbs Ferry Campus at this time.

If you have any questions about this policy, please contact safety@mercy.edu

Sincerely,

Konrad Motyka
Executive Director for Campus Safety and Emergency Management
