Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,

We are excited to announce that the Hudson Hall Fitness Center will reopen on Wednesday, September 16.  

Since New York State announced fitness center and gyms could reopen with limited capacity, our staff has been hard at work to meet these requirements and enhance our protocols to ensure the safety and health of the entire Mercy College Community during the COVID-19 pandemic.  

As you may already know, things will look very different on campus… and so will the Hudson Hall Fitness Center. 

What to Expect in the Hudson Hall Fitness Center:

Hours of Operation

  • Monday – Friday: 7 - 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. -12 p.m. and 1 - 2 p.m.
  • Saturday – Sunday:  CLOSED

*** Between each set of open hours, the facility will be emptied and deep cleaned ***

Fitness Center Online Pre-Registration System: CampusGroups

  • Visitors must pre-register for a 50-minute slot and fitness equipment using CampusGroups. Click here for instructions on CampusGroups.
    • Time slots begin every hour, allowing 10 minutes for emptying of the room and cleaning of equipment before next user
    • Visitors must stay within their workout area at all times possible
    • Visitors may use free pieces (dumbbells and kettlebells) of fitness equipment from other areas and bring it to their designated area

*** Visitors may not make multiple reservations on the same day ***

Fitness Center Entry Requirements

  • Mandatory daily self-screening questionnaire via Mercy’s Mavericks Safe app 
  • Temperature screening will be conducted upon entry. If temperature is below 100.4, entry is permitted.

Limited Facility Capacity at 25%

·        Capacity is limited to 8 visitors in designated workout areas and 2 Fitness Center staff members.

  • The facility is broken out into 8 Workout Areas (Pre-Registered through CampusGroups) detailed below: 
    • Area 1: Treadmill Area
    • Area 2: Elliptical Area
    • Area 3: Stairmaster Area
    • Area 4: Spin Bike and Life Fitness Jungle Area
    • Area 5: Cable Column and Leg Press / Leg Extension Areas
    • Area 6: Fixed Bench Press Station
    • Area 7: Hammer Strength Rack Area
    • Area 8: Rogue Rack Area
  • Available Shared Equipment
    • Dumbbells and Kettlebells
      • Visitors with available free space (Areas 1,4,5,6,7,8) can pick up and move dumbbells and kettlebells to their reserved workout areas

Gym User Regulations  

  • Bathroom usage is permitted, but limited to 1 occupant at a time
  • Lockers and showers will be CLOSED.
  • Water fountains are available to only refill water bottles. Visitors must bring their own water bottle. 
  • Visitors must wear approved cloth-based or disposable face masks at all times. Bandanas and gaiters are not permitted. 
  • Visitors are encouraged to wear workout gloves.
  • Spotting of lifts is not permitted
  • All visitors must remain socially distanced from others (Recommended 10-12 feet)
  • Only exercise in designated areas
  • Visitors must follow designated one-way walkways within the Fitness Center
  • Visitors are asked to disinfect and sanitize all equipment used and wash hands frequently. Enhanced availability of handwashing stations, wipes and disinfectant will be available.
