September 8 Message from the Division of Student Affairs

Mercy College seal

Dear Residential Students,

Welcome Back! We are so happy you are here!

Our top priority is to continue keeping you and our community safe as you reside with us. As we watch the trends at our peer higher education institutions, we are proactively taking extra precautions. Accordingly, we are requiring and providing for all residential students to be tested for COVID-19 on campus commencing immediately. You will receive a follow-up email from the Office of Residential Life regarding your testing date, time and location.

Before your scheduled testing time, please complete the daily COVID screening on the Mavericks Safe app  to show your “green light” and bring your insurance card, if it’s available. The actual test takes less than 5 minutes to complete and is administered via a self-swab. The Student Health Office staff will be on hand to answer any questions at that time.

Following your COVID-19 test, you will be expected to quarantine in your room for up to 48 hours, or until we receive the result of your test. We will bring three meals a day to you in your residence hall. You must refrain from walking around campus or going to class during that time. You should however participate in class virtually, so please inform your professor you are in quarantine and will need to participate virtually.

The Residential Life team will provide more information regarding meals and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Sincerely, and Go Mavs!

Kevin Joyce
Vice President of Student Affairs
