Earlier this summer, Dr. Joan Toglia, Dean of the School of Health and Natural Sciences, conducted a two-day lecture in South Africa for approximately 75 occupational therapists. Invited by the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, Toglia lectured on executive functioning across the life span to educate medical professionals in the region.

Toglia was awarded funding by the Carnegie Diaspora Fellowship program to support her travels. She was nominated for this fellowship by Ms. Izel Obermeyer, a colleague from South Africa.

When she wasn't lecturing, Toglia enjoyed her trip by touring Johannesburg and Capetown.

Toglia is an internationally recognized leader in occupational therapy. She has presented over 200 workshops throughout the United States, Canada, Israel, Hong Kong, Argentina, Chile, Sweden, the Netherlands, and now South Africa.
