Mercy College’s Center for Global Engagement Director Sheila Gersh has been accepted to participate in the 2016 Baden-Wurttemberg Seminar held at Universitat Freiburg this fall.

The seminar focuses on the German educational system and how American students can study abroad in Germany. Gersh was selected for participation and partial sponsorship by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO IES). AACRAO IES is a non-profit membership organization that has taken a leadership position in developing policies centered on the global education community. AACRAO IES provides evaluations of academic credentials from all countries of the world.

Mercy College’s Center for Global Engagement promotes a campus that engages different cultures, promotes exposure to the world beyond the local environments, raises awareness of and involvement in current global issues (education, the environment, health, poverty, global cultures, border disputes and social and justice issues) and creates forums for interacting with international students and faculty in the classroom.

The Center engages Mercy College with programming that draws on New York City's rich international resources, including the United Nations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), political and business leaders and cultural centers.
