Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. – November 1, 2013- Mercy College men's soccer player  Mustaffa Alobeidy has been named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District First Team.

Alobeidy, who is from Bronx, New York, is one of just three midfielders named to the 11-man squad. The squad is composed of players from the East Region which encompasses the East Coast Conference, the Northeast-10 Conference and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.  He will now be eligible for the national CoSIDA Academic All-America team, which will be announcedNovember 25, 2013. 

A senior, majoring in biology and pre-medicine, Alobeidy has made both the ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll three times each.  A former walk-on as a sophomore transfer, he has gone on to start 33 games over 48 appearances in three seasons with the Mavericks after redshirting in 2010, totaling nine points on two goals and five assists as a crucial link in the Mavericks' counter attack on the wing.

The 2013‐14 Capital One Academic All‐District Men's Soccer Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, is recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances athletically and academically .
