Mercy College School of Business professor Chuck Garcia recently guest lectured at Guangzhou Panyu Polytechnic in China. Garcia’s book, A Climb to the Top, was translated into Mandarin. The Mandarin translation’s editor, Wei Lui, is a professor at Panyu Polytechnic.
Freshman business honors student Julia Rabbia accompanied Garcia on the trip. While in China Rabbia met with Panyu students and took a one day internship at the Bank of China where she shadowed two students in the bank while interacting with customers. Before coming to Mercy, Rabbia studied Chinese for seven years so she was right at home on the trip.
Mercy College and Guangzhou Panyu Polytechnic signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2014. This cooperation agreement allows for the exchange of students and faculty, last summer three Panyu students attended the School of Business Leadership Academy.
Last week, representatives from Panyu Polytechnic visited Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry to discuss the cooperation agreement and ways it can be strengthened. Some of the topics of discussion were faculty exchanges, expanding their relationship with Mercy and sending more students over to participate in things like the Summer Leadership Academy.
