About Career and Professional Development

Career and Professional Development at Mercy College teaches career readiness, with the goal of each student to develop lifelong career management skills. We provide tools, training and exposure to valuable opportunities that empower students to take ownership of their career success.

Services available to Mercy College students include:

  • Major and career exploration - Through the use of interactive career and educational planning tools, select a major that supports your career goals.  One major and career exploration tool is FOCUS 2, which is an interactive career and educational planning tool that will help you select a major that supports your career goals.  FOCUS 2 has assisted many of our students when the time comes to make informed decisions about their career.  Click Here to Register       
  • Resume and cover letter writing – Work with your PACT mentor or a Career Counselor to develop a professional resume and learn how to write an effective cover letter.
  • Interview skills - Conduct mock interviews to increase your skill and confidence when communicating your value to employers.  Use the Mock Interview module in Career Maverick, or schedule an appointment to conduct a live Mock Interview with a Career Counselor
  • Job and Internship search - Develop a strategy to efficiently and effectively identify and pursue career opportunities. Mercy College's Career Maverick system is your online gateway to a host of tools and resources that will be of value to you throughout your college career and beyond. Through Career Maverick, you will gain free and exclusive access to full-time and part-time job and internship opportunities specifically targeting members of the Mercy College community.
  • Lunch with a Leader - Business and community leaders host structured business lunches for  small groups of students to discuss skills necessary for entry and success in future career paths
  • Career Events and Programs -
    • Workshops - The Career and Professional Development team hosts a number of career workshops during the academic year, which explore topics such as resume building/cover letters, job/internship search, interview skills and how to work a career fair.
    • Career Fairs - Mercy College participates in Recruit Westchester and an on-campus Spring Career Fair.
