Assistant Dean of Student Affairs

Director of Residential Life

Jay joined the Division of Student Affairs in September 2014. He has nineteen years of full-time experience in higher education at public and private institutions serving in varied roles in assessment/evaluation, housing/residence life, student life, multicultural affairs, civic engagement, new student programs and student leadership development. Jay received his BS in Sociology concentration in social stratification with criminal justice and psychology minors and his M.Ed- concentration in student affairs leadership from Grand Valley State University.

Najja Beaulieu-Hains

Resident Director, Hudson Hall

Najja Beaulieu-Hains was born in Fayetville, North Carolina however was a member of an ARMY family that lived all around the world. Najja graduated from Vilseck High School in Bayern, Germany and decided to attend Mercy College as a member of the Division II Maverick’s volleyball team. As a student, Najja was an active member of the Mercy community and took part in several student-organizations. After graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies: Public Relations, Najja began her career in higher education at Mercy College as a Personalized Achievement Contract counselor (PACT). Not soon after, Najja pursued her second Mercy College degree, and graduated in August of 2016 with her Master of Science in Organizational Leadership. In 2017, Najja transitioned into her current role as the Resident Director within the Office of Residential Life. Najja tirelessly strives to impact students as they develop into well-rounded and overall, holistically-well members of society. Najja’s favorite quote is “The best project you’ll ever work on is you.” In Najja’s free-time, she works on several musical projects as a singer/song-writer and volunteers as a worship leader at varying local churches.

Ana Oliveira Gomes

Grad Assistant/Resident Director, Hotel

Ana Oliveira Gomes was born in Portugal and at the age of 7 moved to Long Island, New York. Ana graduated from Mercy College in August 2018 with a Bachelors in Biology and will graduate in May 2019 with a Masters in Education. Ana is a Graduate Assistant Resident Director at the Westchester Marriott and was previously a Resident Assistant for both Founders and Hudson Hall. Ana began the process as a Resident Assistant because she wanted to be a mentor to students. To further her experience in the Residential Life Department, Ana became a Resident Director to be a mentor to new and returning Resident Assistants and hone her administrative skills. Ana loves to spend her free time seeing shows in the city and traveling.

Alexander Colón

Assistant Director of Residential Life

Alexander Colón first discovered his passion for Student Affairs at St. John's University, where he was a Resident Assistant during his Junior and Senior year. A self-proclaimed ResLifer, Alex has maintained this passion and love of student affairs over the years. In his first professional job, Alex was the Residence Coordinator at the UNC School of the Arts, where he led a team of vibrant, energetic, and monumentally talented students in the High School program. From there Alex went on to Seton Hall University, where he worked as a Residential Life Coordinator for First Year Students while also pursuing his MPA. Committed to his passion for helping others, Alex sought a career opportunity with Mercy College as a Residence Hall Director in August of 2017 where he worked with all student populations. Most recently Alex embarked on his journey as the Assistant Director of Residential Life, where he hopes to continue to inspire others to be passionate about their academic journey while also being an integral part of Mercy's committment to its students. 

 

 

Dany Larame

Resident Director, Founders Hall

Dany is a Mercy College alumnus who received his Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, and he would someday like to pursue a career in physical therapy. Dany was born and raised in Haiti and immigrated to the United States of America at the age of 8. During his undergrad years, Dany was a student leader and embodied maverick pride. On campus Dany helped established the organization Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship Inc. As well as participate as a member in the Caribbean Student Association, Theater Club, and First-Year Council. Dany also served as a Resident Assistant.  Dany’s new role as a Residential Director consist of managing the overall day-to-day operations of the residential life housing building and office. While this is a managerial role, Dany takes pride in fostering a community atmosphere that is open, welcoming, and provides each resident with a well-rounded experience. In addition, Dany finds that mentoring students and helping them navigate through what can be a new and overwhelming experience his greatest duty. In his spare time RD Dany enjoys participating and watching sports as well as acting his true passion. Lastly, health and fitness is always valued and remains a staple in Dany’s life.
