Academic tutoring, in the Vitale Center for Academic Excellence and Innovation in Dobbs Ferry, and Learning Centers on all four Mercy Campuses, is a valuable resource to help you get ahead—whether you are a B student looking to get an A or a struggling student hoping to pass a particular course. 

The CAEI provides a friendly learning environment in which to receive tutoring in writing, math, science, and an extensive range of other subjects. The highly trained and courteous staff of faculty, peer tutors and writing specialists will provide you with the support you need to achieve academic excellence. 

To use the tutors at the Center, you may make an appointment or stop by during drop-in hours.

Graduate Support Online (Writing & Research)

Structured Learning Assistance (SLA) and Supplemental Instruction (SI) are academic assistance programs that use peer-led group study to help students succeed in traditionally difficult courses.

Academic Student Services

Assistance is available for:

  • Many levels of math and statistics, including computational skills, quantitative reasoning, programing algorithms, math-related projects and calculator skills
  • The spectrum of natural and health sciences, including biology, chemistry and physics
  • Instruction in accounting, economics, foreign languages, history, psychology and general education courses.
  • No appointment is necessary—just drop in and join a group. 
Dobbs Ferry Vitale Center for Academic Excellence and Innovation

Students are invited to use our comfortably expanded and refurbished facilities at the Dobbs Ferry campus for individual study, writing and research. Resource-rich rooms are also available for group study and private tutoring.

The CAEI provides graduate students with consultation services in both writing and research, in addition to specialized workshops in various fields of study.

Dobbs Ferry — Monday through Wednesday, 11:00 am - 7:00 pm; Thursday 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Bronx — Monday and Thursday, 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
