Mercy University Programs

Mercy University offers need-based tuition grants to supplement federal and state aid. Applications are made by completing the FAFSA. Based on the Estimated Family Contribution, full time students will be allocated funds to assist them in meeting their financial obligations to the University. Students who receive non-need based grants from additional sources may not be eligible for Mercy University Assistance Grants.

Open to all incoming freshmen who are residents of New York State, ASPIRE provides $6,000 in tuition benefits, spread out over four years ($1500 per year), to eligible students with an annual family income of $125,000 or less. Awardees must be enrolled full-time with a minimum of 12 credits per term.

Award for a female student, preferably a freshman. Preference will be given to students from a Catholic HS and/or students who display civic engagement and community service. Awardee must maintain a minimum HS GPA of 90 (or equivalent on a 4-point GPA scale). Past awardees with a minimum GPA of 3.0 may apply for continued funding for up to 4 years. The candidate must have financial need and the determination to obtain a degree from Mercy University. The scholarship is made possible by the contributions of our founding alumni (classes 65,66, 67, and 68).

Business and Accounting

An annual award to a Mercy undergraduate alumni majoring in Business who intends to pursue an MBA. The Fellowship will be awarded on a competitive basis, involving the submission of a project essay, a transcript and an application. The successful student will be provided with funds to supplement tuition assistance during the year the student is enrolled in the MBA program. To be eligible students must be new, not re-admits or continuing students. 

Fellowship application

This fund is awarded to a female or male Haitian majoring or minoring in business.

Two partial scholarships are awarded to one full-time and one part-time student who are members of a union or have an immediate family member who is a member of a union. Eligible students must pursue a degree in industrial relations or business and have a record of academic achievement.

Annual award for an African-American or Hispanic-American male enrolled in any major within the School of Business at Mercy University. The student must demonstrate outstanding work in his high school and college years, financial need, and a commitment to complete his degree at Mercy University.

Education

For five-year B.S./M.S. undergraduates. A $2,500 scholarship each school year to one student committed to pursue a career as a special education teacher. The School of Education will make a call for applications each year. Please contact Mary Ellen Hoffman at 914-674-7334 for more information.

Health Professions

Scholarships, fellowships and other forms of financial assistance are available for study in speech-language pathology. Interested students should contact ASHA at (800) 638-8255 or (301) 897-5700.

College students who are interested in pursuing careers in healthcare can find the extra help they need through HCOP. Funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, HCOP is geared toward providing economically and educationally disadvantaged students with the support they need to enter the health professions. The program provides a summer enrichment program, tutoring, specialized workshops, field trip experiences, assistance with preparing for entrance examinations, guidance through the graduate school application process and information on securing fellowships and other funding for graduate school.

Math and Computer Science

Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, this scholarship provides tuition support as well as support for other expenses such as books, supplies, fees and equipment. To be eligible students must be a declared Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Mathematics major and have completed at least CISC 231; must be a US citizen or national; must be PELL eligible and have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be a full-time student. Selection is made by the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and is competitive. Please see the program director for more information.
