Currently, Tom serves as the Assistant to the Dean in the School of Business and as an Adjunct Professor. I teach a range of courses including Business Ethics, Strategic Management, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and Macroeconomics.

Dr. Gates’ professional background spans over three decades in business leadership roles. Prior to joining Mercy University, he spent 20 years at Federal Express, where he began as a cargo handler and quickly advanced to the position of Senior Manager. Dr. Gates also held leadership roles at prominent Fortune 500 companies such as Gartner, ABC, and Starbucks. During the time he worked at various companies, he continued to pursue education and was self-motivated to pursue knowledge and improve his skills.
