Minerva Guerrero

Dr. Guerrero is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Department. 

She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with years of experience in community mental health and currently in the private sector providing evidence-based treatment for anxiety and trauma. 

Education

Ph.D. in Mental Health Counseling from Pace University

M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from The City College of New York 

B.A. in Psychology from The City College of New York 

Current Research

Research interests include perceptions of self after an illness, predictors of well-being and meaning in life, and trauma recovery. 

Currently working on:

- Individual Perceptions of the Illness Identity and COVID-19 with Drs. Sarah Hahn & Raquel Warley

-Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) research with Dr. Allison Murphy and Professor Emily Murphy

Teaching Focus

Dr. Guerrero teaches the Introduction to Mental Health Counseling course as well as advanced courses in Psychopathology and Trauma & Crisis.
