Tina M Russo
About
Tina is the Suzanne McGraw Scholars Program Coordinator and Senior Instructor in Early Childhood and Childhood Education at Mercy University. She brings more than 30 years of experience in education, including extensive experience as a classroom teacher, university faculty member, teacher mentor, STEM and technology educator, and student teacher field supervisor.
In her role with the Suzanne McGraw Scholars Program, Tina supports the development and success of scholars preparing to become early childhood and childhood educators. She coordinates program initiatives, supports student recruitment and onboarding, develops mentorship opportunities, and works collaboratively with faculty, advisors, placement personnel, and school partners to create a supportive pathway for future teachers.
Tina has served as a faculty member at Mercy for more than 20 years, teaching undergraduate and graduate education courses in areas including early childhood education, educational technology, assessment, family engagement, educational foundations, and engineering education. She has developed online curricula and assessments and has extensive experience connecting educational theory with authentic classroom practice.
Prior to her work in higher education, Tina spent more than three decades in K–12 education, including serving as a Technology Education, STEM, and Computer Science teacher and instructional leader. She developed STEM and computer science curricula, led professional development, coordinated a district-wide new teacher mentoring program, and created technology and engineering learning opportunities for students.
Tina's professional interests include early childhood and teacher education, student mentorship and success, STEM education, curriculum development, educational technology, and developing strong pathways that prepare and support the next generation of educators.
