CARES ACT EMERGENCY GRANT COMMUNICATION SPRING 2020 REGISTERED STUDENTS WHO DO NOT HAVE A 2019-2020 FAFSA ON FILE WITH THE COLLEGE

Dear Student,

Hope this email finds you and your family well.

Mercy College has been selected as an institution to distribute Federal CARES Act Emergency Grants to students.

The College must first confirm a student’s eligibility prior to distributing the Emergency Grants.

The US Department of Education requires a recipient to be Title IV eligible. Title IV eligible means that a student must meet the following criteria: one) be a citizen or eligible non-citizen; two) be enrolled in an eligible degree program; three) be registered for selective service (www.sss.gov, if applicable); and four) not be in default in a federal student loan.

The fastest way to confirm Title IV eligibility is for a student to complete the 2019-20 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). In order for the College to confirm if you are eligible for the Federal CARES Emergency Grants, you must file the 2019-20 FAFSA

You may complete this form online via fafsa.ed.gov. Please be sure to select the 2019-20 FAFSA application. Please be sure to add the Mercy College school code: 002772

To be eligible for Federal CARES Act Emergency Grants consideration you must file the 2019-20 FAFSA application no later than Thursday, May 7, 2020

If you have any questions related to this process, please do not hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,
Margaret M McGrail
Vice President, Enrollment Services
