Mercy College Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month: Gabrielle Ariva Cueva '16

Mercy College is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 through October 15 in recognition of the achievements and contributions of our Hispanic, Latino/a and Latinx communities.

As the largest private federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) in New York, Mercy College Hispanic students are woven into the fabric of the College’s culture, with their enrollment making up more than 38% of the student body according to the 2020 Mercy College Census. Mercy takes seriously the responsibility of supporting Hispanic, Latino/a and Latinx students, and is proud to ensure opportunities and resources for all students to fulfill their dreams of a college education.

According to alumna Gabrielle Ariva Cueva '16, “The fact that [Mercy is] a Hispanic serving institution means a lot to me because I’m Hispanic, and they take that into consideration. Mercy understands where we’re coming from.”
