Mercy Officially Opens Student-focused Career Hub

Ribbon Cutting of The Career Hub

A bright and bold new Career Hub officially opened on the Dobbs Ferry campus on October 8. The event included all the requisite fanfare of a grand opening: speeches and thanks, celebration and acknowledgement and a ceremonial ribbon cutting. Faculty and staff from all departments across campus were in attendance—not to mention the students who will benefit from Mercy’s array of career programs and tools.

“Mercy has increased its investment in student careers in several ways,” said Jill C. Hart, executive director, Career & Professional Development. “The newly dedicated space—we’re calling it the Career Hub—is the product of that commitment to building a strong foundation for student success.”

“Today is about pausing to dedicate this new space for students,” said President Hall. “We also celebrate the many contributions of our faculty, our staff, and the employers who provide internships and jobs to our students. It’s true partnerships we celebrate today.”

The Career Hub is located on the top floor of the library on the Dobbs Ferry Campus, already a popular gathering place for students. “Now students can readily access the technology and resources of the Career Hub to learn career skills, prepare resumes, search for internships and conduct mock interviews,” said Hart. “It’s also a workspace for collaborative efforts touching all segments of the Mercy community.”

Hart added that the remarks from students Samuel Baiden and Keyana Griffith drove home the point that the new Career Hub is all about student success. “Both student speakers mentioned the importance of their relationships with faculty and with the career team in securing internships and jobs. Mercy’s Career Hub provides a central, visible space, in the midst of our students, for collaboration, resources and opportunities.”
