Nursing Faculty Member is Named a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine

A member of the Mercy College nursing faculty, Dr. Adrienne Wald, Mercy College associate professor of nursing, has been inducted into the New York Academy of Medicine (NYCM), Mercy’s School of Health and Natural Sciences has announced.

In a ceremony held at NYAM on November 7, 2019, Wald joined more than 2,000 Fellows of the highly esteemed Academy. Fellows are selected each year by their peers from across the medical and health professions.

“I am proud to announce Dr. Wald’s recognition by this prestigious organization for her contributions to the field of nursing,” said Dr. Joan Toglia, dean of the School of Health and Natural Sciences. “Her achievements bring honor and prestige to Mercy College, and I speak on behalf of my colleagues and the Mercy community in offering our congratulations.”

Founded in 1847, NYAM serves as a source for effective discourse and action regarding the health care and public health problems that affect people in New York City and beyond. Fellows of the Academy embody the highest levels of achievement and leadership in the fields of medicine and health as well as science, social work, nursing, education, law and research.

“I am humbled and inspired by the work of NYAM and the exceptional members of the organization who work to impact the health of all New Yorkers,” said Dr. Wald. “I look forward to working with the Academy, and I so appreciate the support, friendship and collaboration of my faculty colleagues.”

Wald, who recently came to Mercy College from the former College of New Rochelle, has joined the ranks of Mercy faculty inducted into NYAM in recent years. They include Mercy professor Dr. Deborah Hunt, executive director of Nursing Special Programs, and associate professors Dr. Arlene Rosen and Dr. Lynda Shand.
